The national economy may be on shaky ground, but San Antonio’s economy is still faring better than most cities in America, at least according to some economists.
Part of that is due to the fact that there are still some local employers that are working to keep workers on the payroll.
We have produced a slideshow of some of the leading private-sector employers in the city as determined by Business Journal research. Some companies — like H-E-B, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas andValero Energy Corp. — elected not to supply local employment figures and are not included in the ranking. However, many more did disclose their local headcount and they are reflected in this slideshow.
The largest employers run the gamut from health care and financial services to scientific research and theme parks.
