April 26, 2017

Former Kelly Airforce Base, Port San Antonio is beginning construction on one of six similar $20 Million technology industry buildings. The structure will be 90,000 SF and is expected to add 300 jobs to the 12,000 positions already filled and active throughout the port. The building is part of a 17 -acre industrial campus within the almost 2,000-acre Port San Antonio. The Port’s close proximity to Joint Base Lackland Airforce Base has made for an ideal environment to continually attract businesses such as Booz Allen Hamilton, IPSecure, and IOMAXIS, these companies work federal contracts in cooperation with the 24th and 25th Air Force who operate and have headquarters within the Port’s extensive grounds. In response to developing talent for this industry local universities such as Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio College, Texas A&M University San Antonio, The University of Texas at San Antonio and St. Philips College are already a part of and recognized by the National Security Agency cybersecurity program. It is hoped that the campus within the Port will not only be occupied by the military, government, and established cybersecurity, tech companies, but also by national and local tech startups.
