Nationwide selects Westover Hills for planned operations center

October 14, 2010

Nationwide Insurance will be hiring hundreds of new employees and consolidating office space in San Antonio once it opens a new facility in Westover Hills in 2012.

Last year, Nationwide announced that it had selected San Antonio for a new sales and service operations center that would support the hiring of 800 individuals. On Monday, the insurer said it has placed land under contract near the intersection of Hyatt Resort Drive and State Highway 151 on which to place the building. The insurer expects to close on the land by the end of the year. The office will be around 300,000 square feet of space.

Construction of the new facility is being planned for early 2011 and the project should be completed by mid-2012. Construction costs of the facility are still being finalized. Once completed, Nationwide employees working in leased space will start migrating to the new office.

Nationwide already has about 1,000 employees in San Antonio. Job applicants are asked to visit to apply.

Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide is rated A+ by A.M. Best. The company sells auto, motorcycle, boat, homeowners and life insurance.
